808 State of Mind is a one-hour dramatic comedy television series about a once conventional family who becomes unhinged by tragedy and faces a paradox in paradise while realizing that there are no shortcuts in the pursuit of happiness, especially on an island like Maui. After becoming a widow, Anne Wilson and her two teenagers learn about hope and perseverance when they move back to Maui and overcome obstacles as they strive to reach their goals.

Olivia aims to go pro at stand up paddling. Liam wants to be a famous singer, and Anne juggles with her Bed & breakfast while she works on the side as a ganjapreneur and bakes up an empire with a secret ingredient.

It’s like a 21st-century Maui version of 90210 on Maui, with a hint of Weeds.

Why is this show important?
Maui is a very special place, but it’s not for everyone. With so many people wanting to relocate, I felt that the show was a great way to give them a glimpse of what it’s like. It’s not all rainbows and waterfalls, so if you are one of the lucky ones that the island embraces, then you will surely feel the aloha.

In the show, I will highlight Standup paddling, the controversy of medicinal cannabis, the aggressive demand for self-sustainability, and the environmental issues we face on the island. Standup Paddling is the fastest growing sport in the world and can be played anywhere, even Kansas. With a “hush, hush, don’t tell,” attitude about cannabis, I feel that it is important to break the mold. For some people, this is medicine. Like taking Tylenol. Let’s rebrand cannabis.
